Today, I went to the LACMA which was the biggest art museum in Los Angeles. LACMA’s full name was Los Angeles Country Museum of Art. LACMA’s feature was what art work of other countries became display. Among seven buildings, four buildings were exhibition places. First, I went to the Anmanson building. This building consisted of many kinds of European contemporary art works. Especially, I got an impression from Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro. My next visiting place was the Hammer building. I felt familiar and like my hometown in this place, because the Hammer building displayed many species of the Korean art works. And then I went to the pavilion for Japanese art center located besides the Hammer building. I first saw Japanese art works and some kinds were similar to the Korean, other kinds were different features. So, this watching refreshed my mind. My last visiting was the Broad contemporary art museum. This place displayed many kinds of interesting and grotesque art works. After I watched for three hours in the museum, I joyfully went to home.

Went to music major buildings in USC

Today, I went to USC (University of Southern California). I preferred USC to other universities USC was one of many universities which preferred to transfer to me. This university was my first degree school. I had been known that music majors of USC was very famous and applied to many students. Furthermore, USC was one of many top rank universities in the United States. In the west states universities, USC was one of the most preferred universities, many students applied or transferred to USC from our college (Santa Monica College). USC located in Vermont and middle of Jefferson and Exposition Blvd. The school was not bid and was similar to ordinary universities size in South Korea. Above all, my visiting focus went to music faculty buildings, so I leaved to that place. Music major buildings were composed of four buildings, each structure differed to functions. Actually, first I imagined that building was a big size, but there was differed to my imagination. However, when I was heard to music which played to students, I was very happy and I really hoped to transfer in USC.

Apr.16/2010 : Spring Break - The Guitar Center

Today, I went to the Guitar center near Pico Blvd and Westwood Blvd. Recently, when I had some time, I composed my music. However, I felt to lack sounds of my music, so I had been interested in sound equipments a long time ago, today accidently I found this shop and I visited. The shop composed of two floors and first floor sold about music composition programs, music keyboards, synthesizers, all about percussion instruments and many sound equipments. Second floor sold about guitars (Electric guitar, Electric bass guitar and Classic guitar etc.). Especially, I got an impression that all things in this shop was a cheaper than South Korea’s things. When I start regular music composing, I will buy some sound equipment. There will help to me. However, first of all I will learn and study about MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) only so I will be can use to digital sound equipment. For more thirty times, I really watched and touched many kinds of instrumentals in this shop. When I have some time, I will often visit this sound equipment shop.

Today, I had a good time in Anaheim with my friend. My friend George lived in Anaheim, he picked up to me. He introduced to me about Anaheim especially I interested that Disney land located in Anaheim. I wanted to go to Disney land, but I did not enough to money because Disney land’s cost was so expensive. So, after we finished eating food, he wanted to me around Anaheim. Anaheim took forty minute to go by car from Los Angeles. Anaheim was a quieter city than Los Angeles and security was a safer than Los Angeles. So, actually excepted Disney land, Anaheim was boring and lacked playing places. When I came back in Los Angeles, I took a train. It was my first time to take a train. One way cost to go to Los Angeles was 9.50 dollars. I waited train for two hours in Fullerton Station. Train arrived at 11:30 A.M. The train consisted of two floors, seat was wide and free seat. I thought that American train was a slower than South Korean train, but American train was a more comfortable than South Korean train. Today, I had special two experiences in another place out of Los Angeles.

Today, finally I passed a driver written test, I saved much time because the driver written test quickly finished. So, actually I made a plan to go to the LACMA museum, but when I arrived in the museum, the museum closed. So, I asked to a museum staff, she said to me “All public museums did not open on Wednesday” Ultimately, I went back, accidently I looked at 99 cents store. This store was very interesting because all things in the store only sold 99 cents. Moreover, I could save much money, because this store was a cheaper than other supermarkets. I had been known that this style market only existed in South Korea. I bought diet coke, strawberry soda, four bottles of water and rented a DVD, 2012. Even though, I wanted to buy many things, I was not enough to money. So, if I will visit this supermarket again, I will buy more many things. Actually, I really needed to many things, but I could not buy them because generally the cost of Los Angeles was so expensive. Today, I had a useful experience in 99 cents supermarket beside Whilsher Blvd in Los Angeles.

Apr.13/2010 : Spring Break - DMV in Santa Monica

Today was the day which took a driver written test in Santa Monica DMV. Originally, I wanted to take a driver written test on last Tuesday. However, that day came many people in Santa Monica DMV, so I made appointment on today, April.13. Today, many people were in DMV, but this day was a less than last Tuesday. I arrived in DMV at two P.M and then I received a waiting ticket. I waited for one hour, because many people also waited for themselves turns. Finally, my turn came, I registered and got a basic eye test then I took a picture. Although the picture did not satisfy to me, I took a driver written test in that way. I easily understood to test subjects because all test subjects composed by the Korean languages. If I chose a more six wrong answers, I was no pass a test. However, I chose seven wrong answers. I was no pass, but I was two chances, I decided to take a driver written test again. Most people easily passed on the other hand I was shame because I did not pass at a stroke.

Today, I went to the Mpark4 movie theater again. I watched to the American movie yesterday, so I wanted to watch the Korean movie and I solved to my wish today. ‘Secret reunion’ was the movie name which watched to me. There were many people in the Mpark4. Although most people visited with their family or friends, Singular people also were some existences. The movie was about the North Korean man and the South Korean man story. Sometimes this movie saw great action moreover it made a deep impression on me. This movie was very fun and today, I saw an American person in the theater. He also watched to a movie alone. So I first told to him and we became a good friend. His name was George, he was an older ten than me. He was man who liked and interested in Korean culture. I explained to him about the Korean movie and I took a dinner with him in the Korean barbeque restaurant. Actually, I needed to make more many other country friends, so today I thought that I got a chance which was very nice experience to speak English.

Today, I went to a movie theater. Actually, I always had been wished going to a movie theater and recently I really wanted to watch, because interesting many movies opened in theater. There was the Mpark4 movie theater, where I had gone. The Mpark4 was like Korean movie theater style, because not only the American movie but also the Korean movie opened. The Mpark4 movie theater consisted of four auditoriums and was some convenience institutions. First, I watched to American movie, ‘Crash of the Titans’ This Movie which was recently opened was blockbuster movie, so I had been waited for a long time before the movie premiere. Principal background of the movie was Perseus and Medusa story in the Greek mythology. Not only story but also action and computer graphic motion were very exciting to me. Moreover, running time also was adequate amount. So, I could more and more concentrate in this movie for showing time. After the movie was finished, I was impressed by the movie. If I will have a time, I will want to watch this movie again and I will go here on next time.

Today, I went to the West Pavilion department store. The West Pavilion was only one and big department store in our street. When my mother stayed in my homestay for three weeks, sometimes we had a time, we went to shopping at the West Pavilion department store. However, I went to this place alone today. Frankly speaking, The West Pavilion department store was not a smaller than other department store. The West Pavilion was three floor building including below floor. Below floor mainly sold about men, first floor primarily displayed about women, men and women shoes, bags, fancy items etc. Lastly Second floor sold various things moreover a small post office and bank located in this floor. Honestly, I really wanted to buy many things, however generally, the West Pavilion department store’s things were expensive, so I just watched inside department store and took a picture to many things. Although, I could not buy anything today, because I did not enough money to buy many things, I will buy my favorite things on next visiting. However, I had a happy time in the West Pavilion department store.

Today was beginning of the spring vacation. After I finished lunch, I went to the bookstore near Westwood. Sometimes I visited to this bookstore for watching but today, I went to the bookstore for buying a book. The bookstore name was Barnes & Noble. Barnes & Noble is the biggest bookstore company in the United States. I bought a book about health and fitness and made a membership card. Most Barnes & Noble bookstores had similar commons. First, Booksellers are wide and build to two or three floor, so numerous books display in bookstore. Second, Convenience institution, especially café was in bookstore. So, not only I but also most people comfortably read a book with coffee or drink. Last, Barnes & Noble provides membership card system. Membership card was much benefit to many people. Although you pay to money for joining membership, after you join to membership, you receive much discount benefit. Membership joining saves your much money because most selling books in the United States were so expensive. I also joined to membership, because of these systems. Today, I knew and experienced many things in Barnes & Noble. Sometimes if I have a time, I will visit and buy a book in this bookstore.
