Write about Dennis Hong – ‘My seven species of robot’

I saw interestingly and listened about ‘My seven species of robot’ by Dennis Hong (Won Seo, Hong) from Ted.com. Dennis is man who makes new robots with robot locomotion and mechanism design and is professor at Virginia Tech. In his talk theme ‘My seven species of robot’, he introduces about many kinds of robots which made in him and his students. Most of his many robots are practical and very interesting idea works. Especially, I got an impress from robot Raphael, Hydras, and Darwin. First robot, Raphael is similar to people’s hands. So this robot easily catches many kinds of things. Second robot, Hydras is similar to snake but this robot got an inspiration from people’s arm. So, Hydras simply catches for located things. Third robot is his symbol and very popular to many people. The robot name is Darwin. Darwin continually has been evolved until now. So Darwin 4+ is making in the present time. First type, Darwin 0 which made in 2004 year, was a test work, but this robot made to renovation of humanoid robot. Second type, Darwin 1 which made in 2005 year, was more naturally standing and walking. Third type Darwin 2 which made in 2006 year, was autonomous robot. This robot did not need to remote controller and had artificial intelligence. Dennis and his students with Darwin 2 were challenged in the international robot world cup. After finished to introduction about many kinds of his robots, Dennis explained about his success. Success which he talks to people is first ‘do note to creative information document, second ‘do find to apt ideas and sketch, third ‘make a study with apt ideas, fourth ‘do develop ideas without criticize and limitation’ fifth ‘do make many things for realization of ideas’ sixth ‘do work smart, then do work hard and last ‘don’t forget to have fun’. As a result, I felt through Dennis Hong ‘success easily can’t achieve’ and ‘much effort and thinking or many ideas need for the true success’. Although I could not understand some parts of a talk of Dennis, this time was very beneficial time to me.

Similarity between book and movie is that First, book and movie have valuable lessons, those are influenced on people’s life. The book’s lesson is relation, sacrifice, forgiveness, love and another start. On the other hand the movie’s lesson is ‘do not self-control’, ‘new challenge’, ‘believe by myself’, ‘catch to chance’ and love. Although lessons are some difference, each other have valuable lesson. Second, book and movie get lessons through past. In the book main character meets five people in Heaven. Five people are relationship people with Eddie’s of the past. So, five people through past give to lesson to Eddie and in the movie main character though past judges in Judgment City and get a lesson. Last, book and movie look about valuable love. Although book did not much deal with about love, when relate with movie, book and movie’s similarity about love are ‘Although people’s life were end, their love will be always forever’. So, book and movie look that love is valuable thing in reality and heaven. On the other hand, Difference between book and movie is that First book deals various backgrounds but movie is not. The Book deals various backgrounds about main character’s past in Heaven and gives to lessons. For example the past of Ruby Pier, a battlefield etc. However, the movie’s background is Judgment city which decides to go to the Heaven or this world because the movie through judgment decides whether people go to Heaven or not. Second, Main character’s personality in book and movie is different. For example Miller in the movie was much timidity and coward, so his judge is uneasiness. However, Eddie in the book was strong, brave and did his best work. So their life is some different. Last, the book and movie’s atmosphere is some different. Generally movie’s atmosphere is very humorous and delight mood. However, book’s atmosphere is sometimes exciting especially the war scene and sometimes was melancholy. Anyway, focus of movie or book is that someday people were enlightened though other some accidents.

Today, I had the first chance to visit blog of my classmates. So, I continually looked blog of my classmates for a few minutes. Some classmate’s blog post was not many post, on the other hand other classmate’s blog post was many post. Among many classmates blog, I was interested in Jae Sung’s blog. Especially, I read about Fusion Jazz Band, T-Square and Casiopea, I interestedly read his blog post because this blog post was about musician and actually I was also interested in Fusion music genre. Jae Sung looked so like T-Square and Casiopea because their music was impressed by his play. So, I more wanted to know about them, I simply researched about them. Casiopea was a Japanese jazz fusion band that was formed in 1976 by guitarist Issei Noro, bassist Tetsuo Sakurai and keyboardist Hidehiko Koike. In 1977, keyboardist Minoru Mukaiya and drummer Takashi Sasaki joined the group, leaving Hidehiko out of Casiopea. The group debuted with the self-titled album Casiopea in 1979, featuring Randy Brecker and Michael Brecker as guest musicians. In 1980, Takashi was replaced by Akira Jimbo. Casiopea has released over 35 albums to date in both Japan and the United States and T-Square is also a Japanese jazz fusion band that was formed in 1978. Its most successful lineup included guitarist Masahiro Andoh, bassist Mitsuru Sutoh, saxophonist, flutist and EWI player Takeshi Itoh, keyboardist Hirotaka Izumi, and drummer Hiroyuki Noritake. They are known for songs such as Truth, Japanese Soul Brothers, Takarajima, and Omens of Love among others. Only difference between two bands is various instruments. T-Square more used instrument then Casiopea. Among many their music, especially Dandelion Hill of T-Square used to advertisement music, Frankly speaking, although they were very famous musicians, I did not know about their existence, through Jae Sung I became to know about new genre music and was interested in them. Also taking this opportunity, I will meet with such their music.

My Idea of Heaven

“My Idea of Heaven”

I think about idea of Heaven that Heaven is holy place because Heaven goes to people who granted to kindness to poor people or dedicated to society through good works etc and bad people can’t go to Heaven if they did not change his mind. I have been believed existence of Heaven from when I was young. My parents always taught and said to me, when I helped to poor people, gave to kindness and did not bad thing, I certainly went to Heaven. So, when I did wrong or bad mistake, I always regretted and worried. Although I did not see to Heaven, I believe Heaven’s existence until Now. Heaven is holy and like Utopia. When people lived, they always lived good and kind or diligent and honest, God will present to Heaven to them. Although their life was unhappy on the Earth, after then they went to Heaven, they always will have happy life forever in Heaven. So, for go to Heaven when I am on the Earth I will always diligently and honestly live. Heaven always exists in all people’s mind during people live on the Earth. I always believe this existence too.

Generally, most people know that “Butterfly in the Amazon” effect or shortly Butterfly effect. This is science theory that Butterfly’s wing conduct in Brazil makes to occur to tornado in Texas of the United States. Atmospheric scholar of the United States, Edward Lorentz found this theory during meteorological observation in 1961. After then this theory became base of Chaos Theory in physics. First of all, when people explained about this situation, people used a seagull instead of a butterfly, but after then changed to a butterfly instead of a seagull for to express to poetic. This imaginational situation is sensitive dependence from first condition. This mean could not explain to existing physics. As a result, this is to express that small changes produce big changes. Today, Butterfly effect has a stronger power in global period. For example, a flow of information is very fast because of a digital and the mess media revolution. So, tiny changes of a corner in a global village very quickly spread to the world. Ultimately, a main point of butterfly effect is “When start to any things, difference of very small quantity makes very big difference in result.”

The Trojan War was worth it because Greek’s development, great psychological world of Grecians about love, and a great tactics of Grecians for win. First, I think that through the Trojan War, Greek became development more and more, because before the Trojan War, many Ionia countries which are areas of present Syria, Lebanon, had supremacy of the East Mediterranean and many counties of Greek in the Balkan Peninsula which just started to growth, challenged about this supremacy. Moreover, Each Greek cities before the Trojan War each could not get out of the level of self – sufficiency at most. As a result, many Greek countries which were the center of Athena or other capitals won the Trojan War. Second, I believe that through the Trojan War value of Grecians about love was a more important than war, because for instance Paris, He already knew to occur to war but he tried to dangerous war for to get a loved sweetheart. This mean was that then Grecians thought that love of men and women was a more valuable and important than war. Although many people were killed in the Trojan War, Grecians thought that it was not important. They were that love was the first value. I always think that it is very interesting. Last, in my opinion, through the Trojan War, I felt to a great tactics of Grecians for win. For example, the Trojan horse was representative example. Grecians pretended to back in the Trojan War and they were near Tenedos Island. Sinon said that the Trojan War was a sacrifice for Athena who made the Troy castle to impregnability, so the Trojan horse was entered in the Troy castle then on the night Grecian soldiers who hid in the Trojan horse came out and attacked to Troy. As a result, Troy was destroyed to Greek. This tactics was simple but I thought that if this tactics were not, Greeks did not may exist. In my conclusion, the Troy war made Greek stronger than before the war, become to know to Grecian’s a great love more than the war and become to know again about Grecian’s great tactics for the Troy war.

Have a good pastime in Santa Monica pier.

On Friday afternoon, I went to Santa Monica pier with Level 2 classmates and summer, Jason in my class. I liked to walk around various places for solved my stress, Today I just came for relax to my boring mind too. I arrived in advance in Santa Monica pier before meeting time one hour. Actually, when I had a time, I often have been visited in Santa Monica pier. Santa Monica beach was crowded with many visitors and Santa Monica citizens or other city citizens day by day especially weekend because Santa Monica beach was one of the very famous places in Santa Monica. Today also many people visited in Santa Monica beach. Santa Monica pier was center of many beaches, centering around Santa Monica pier the coastline was continually connected like Venice beach and Marina del ray in South, Topanga and Maribu beach was continued in North. Today was sunny day however wind was very strong, so not only I but also other people lost control of their bodies because of strong blowing wind. On the basis of entrance, near Santa Monica pier, some restaurants located on pier right side and pier left side became display many pictures about history of Santa Monica beach and pier and an amusement park also located near Santa Monica pier this park name was Pacific Park and opened 1996 year. Although this amusement park was a smaller then other play park, many children used to this amusement park. When I entered in pier, sun was a stronger then before I entered in pier and wind also strong too. In this condition, many fishermen enjoyed fishing and we took visiting commemoration pictures on a point of Santa Monica pier. After took memory pictures, we went to take a lunch near Santa Monica broad way. Time fast flowed, so soon my watch pointed to four half o’clock. Most classmates came back in Santa Monica and I went to home with Sang Jeon. I did not see many things because I often came to Santa Monica beach. I had a good time and did pastime after a long time in this place.
